What Is Spring Steel Made Of

Spring steel is steel that is used specifically for the manufacture of springs and elastic elements due to its elasticity in the hardened and tempered state. The elasticity of steel depends on its ability to deform elastically, i.e. within a defined range, the ability to deform elastically so that it can withstand a certain load without permanent deformation after the load is removed.

Spring steel should have excellent overall performance, such as mechanical properties (in particular, the elastic limit, strength limit, flexural strength ratio), resistance to elastic reduction performance (that is, resistance to elastic reduction performance, also known as resistance to relaxation performance), fatigue performance, hardenability, physical and chemical properties (heat resistance, low temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.). In order to meet the above performance requirements, spring steel has excellent metallurgical quality (high purity and uniformity), good surface quality (strict control of surface defects and decarburization), accurate shape and size.

Spring steel and manganese steel which is better for knives

High manganese steel is more suitable for knives. High manganese steel is an anti-wear steel designed for use in heavy industry, with applications in quarrying, mining, excavation, coal industry, foundry and steel industry. After treatment with anti-wear technology, the material can reach a surface hardness of 500 – 550 Brinell, continue to maintain internal flexibility, minimise surface friction, be welded with high manganese steel or similar materials, be cut by acetylene oxygen torches, be non-magnetic, etc.

The difference between spring steel and manganese steel

Different casting methods

Manganese steel castings more sand moulding process scheme, sand casting due to mature technology, high production efficiency and widely promoted. There is also the use of special casting. Special casting refers to the casting material, molding method, metal liquid filling form and metal solidification conditions in the type and other aspects of sand casting have significant differences in casting methods.

Spring steel refers to the manufacture of various types of springs and other elastic components of special alloy steel. According to the performance requirements, use conditions can be divided into ordinary alloy spring steel and special alloy spring steel.

Different characteristics

Spring steel has excellent overall performance, spring steel has excellent metallurgical quality (high purity and uniformity), good surface quality (strict control of surface defects and decarburization), accurate shape and size.

The most important feature of manganese steel is in the strong impact, extrusion conditions, the surface layer of the rapid occurrence of process hardening phenomenon, so that the heart still maintain austenite good toughness and plasticity at the same time hardened layer with good wear resistance.

Different applications

The main spring steel class, a wide range of uses. Manufacture of a variety of springs, such as cars, locomotives, tractors, plate springs, coil springs, cylinder safety valve springs and some important springs working under high stress, severe wear and tear springs.

Manganese steel is a high strength steel, mainly used for the need to withstand impact, extrusion, material abrasion and other harsh working conditions, the form of damage to wear and tear consumption, part of the fracture, deformation, now commonly used in the engine under the guard.

The shock absorber is also replaced for the following reasons:

One is to improve and update the original function status;

Second, the car is subject to excessive up and down and left and right vibration, nodding when braking and irregular tire wear;

The third is the excessive inclination or swing of the car when turning;

Fourth, the wear or damage of the final assembly shell leads to the oil leakage of the shock absorber and affects the performance of the shock absorber; Oil leakage is the most problematic situation of the shock absorber, and there are many reasons for oil leakage, the most common of which is the crack caused by the collision.

How often do the shock absorber springs change

It is not necessary to replace the spring to replace the shock absorber. You can only replace the shock absorber flowers (commonly known as general reduction). Under what circumstances do shock absorbers and shock absorbers need to be replaced together. Mainly for the front shock absorber of the automobile. After four or five years of driving, the shock absorber leaks oil or makes a strange noise. At the same time, the shock absorber sheath is too soft or deformed.
